Nests Before Eggs: Or How I Got Some Blogging Advice from C. S. Lewis
Well, it’s like this. I had some idea that I wanted to blog, but no real clear picture of what I wanted a blog to look like. Being a bit of a “hands on” sort of visionary, I really just needed to jump in with both feet to figure out what I needed to work on.
Not long after starting my blog, the kids and I were listening to C. S. Lewis’ The Horse and His Boy. A particular phrase resonated with me as we listened. “As we birds say, nests before eggs,” declares the Raven as the Narnian court prepares their escape from Calormen. I realized that before I could blog in the way I had envisioned, I needed to “feather” this nest a bit more.
The “free blog” platform I had chosen wasn’t nearly customizable enough, nor would it allow me any sort of email server, severely limiting my ability to stay in contact with my readers or offer exclusive content to subscribers. In short, it just wasn’t going to let me take the blog in the direction I desired.
Plus, I’m just so much happier with the look and feel of this blog format. So, let’s get this conversation going again. I would love for you to join the mailing list so I can let you know about new content or offers. And let me know in the comments what you think of the new look.
Thanks for migrating….
P.S. If you previously subscribed, you don’t need to do so again. I’ll be sending out an email with a password for subscriber-only content.
